Group Fittings
Group fittings are a 2 hour appointment that allows several people to have their fittings at once.
This appointment can accommodate a bride and two others who need alterations, or a bride with a second wedding dress.
This appointment can also accommodate a group of 4 grads or 4 bridesmaids (with no bride).
How much is the Fitting Fee?
All clients who book with Hems in a Hurry will have a fitting fee. These fees are non-refundable unless you cancel your appointment 72 hours before your appointment.

When do I pay the Fitting Fee?
You pay the fitting fee when you book your appointment.
Hems in a Hurry accepts Visa & Mastercard when booking online.
If you prefer to pay by e-transfer you can contact Hems in a Hurry to reserve your appointment. If the consultation fee is not paid with in 24 hours of contacting Hems in a Hurry your appointment will be cancelled.
How early should I begin alterations?
We recommend booking alterations to start 10-12 weeks before your wedding/departure date. Anything later than 10 weeks will incur a rush fee. Consultation appointment booked before 6 months from your wedding/departure date may require an additional first appointment 10-12 weeks before your wedding.
How many appointments will I need?
Most clients will need two to three appointments. Depending on how much customization is happening with the gown, up to five appointments may be needed.
How much will the alterations cost?
Price varies on the style of dress and the alterations needed to make the dress fit you perfectly. Most brides on average should expect to spend $750+, this is not including custom work (anything made special for your dress, like a custom sleeve). Feel free to inquire for more personalized pricing or if there are dress customizations that you are interested in that are not included above!
What do I need to bring with me for the appointment?
Please bring your dress, the shoes you intend to wear and appropriate undergarments, this will include; bra and shape wear.
What type of payment is accepted?
I accept cash, e-transfer, and credit card (Visa and Mastercard).
When do I pay?
Once the quote has been accepted, a 50% payment is required before alterations begin, the balance will be due on the day of the final fitting.
What is an Express Package?
For alterations that are 2 – 4 weeks before the wedding/departure date. This is for basic alterations only (hem, take in/let out sides, shoulders and bustle), no remakes or other customizations. Contact Hems in a Hurry for more information about how to book.
This package starts at $1000+ and includes a basic fitting package and alterations. There are limited appointments available for this package.
How much do you charge to do Express appointments?
Generally speaking, you maybe charged up to an additional 50% of the total cost of the alterations.
How many people can I bring with me to my appointment?
You are welcome to bring one or two support people. However, I do accommodate group fittings.
Can I bring my children to the appointment?
If your child is capable of sitting still for the duration of the appointment they are welcome to attend. However, this is an unsafe environment for children to be unattended. Children can be a distraction and it’s to your advantage to not bring them.

Where can I park when I arrive?
I have a dedicated spot in my driveway on the left hand side for my clients to park.
If you choose to park on the street please be mindful of the people in the neighbourhood and check to see if you are blocking someones driveway, on their grass or on the side walk.
DO NOT park under the lamp post, there is not enough room to park there without blocking my neighbours driveway.
If there is no where else to park please wait until my previous client has left then you can park in the driveway.
Do you do any custom work?
I will consider custom projects in my quieter months, November through January.
Will you hem curtains or make decor items?
No.
Do you carry insurance?
Yes! Hems in a Hurry is fully insured.
I have my dress already, but my wedding is several months away, can I come in for a consultation appointment?
Yes! Absolutely! Once you receive your quote you will have 30 days to book your first appointment for best pricing, otherwise the quote will be honored for up to 6 months.
Will you steam out my gown?
Yes, you can request to have you gown steamed for an additional cost.
